Morgana & Oz Snapchat Campaign

My Role: Creative Producer · Art Director · Co-Scriptwriter · Editorial Lead

Morgana and Oz is a beautiful webcomic by the talented Miyul, it’s about a witch with the worst luck in magic and a shy vampire who’s a short king!
Project Goal:
Develop and pitch an original vertical animation ads for Snapchat’s Accelerator Program, centered on Morgana, a sweet, modern, powerful but clumsy witch, and Oz, her anxious, aloof, shy vampire love interest. The story explores chaotic friendship, supernatural bureaucracy, and urban magic through a short-form episodic lens that could entice Gen Z female readers.
The Impact:
The final videos hit all our KPI goals and showed how powerful animation can be for webcomics. The best part? Miyuli loved it, and her fans were asking for more. That was the most rewarding part of the whole thing, bringing something beautiful to life and having it resonate with the people who love it most.
My Contribution:
-
Developed the creative pitch deck for the studios to bid.
-
Adapt the comic episodes chosen into a 30-second script.
-
Directed storyboards and edited pacing to create a magical ad that was hard to ignore.
-
Led the animation process with the external animation team, focusing on background details, world-building, and beautiful character design that looked very Ghibli.
-
Collaborated across departments, paid marketing, social marketing, and the author Miyuli, for approvals and thematic consistency.
-
Oversaw VO casting and direction, music selection, and subtle sound design cues (i.e., ambient pick-ups, magical sounds).
Creative Choices:
-
Miyuli's style is very close to Studio Ghibli's, so we looked for studios that could emulate that style. We chose Trash Studio, which is composed of ex-Ghibli employees!
-
Visual Style: We wanted to focus on the magic elements to make sure it was treated with care. Those elements were a mix of 3D and 2D textures; we also wanted to focus on the character's facial expressions to showcase more subtle, sweet moments.
-
Sound: The String and piano were chosen to keep the classical feel of the series. We wanted something sweet, playful, and energetic.
-
Voice over: I wanted to lean into anime voice actors as this was being produced by a Japanese studio, and the VO talent would be more used to working with our studio. We chose the wonderful Kira Buckland as Morgana and Nik Shriner as Oz.
Character and enviromental designs:
Snap moving posters:
I worked with our visual and motion designers to create simple moving posters with the original webcomic art to complement the animated shorts!

Miyuli Socials:
The Creator was nice enough to post the animations on their social media pages.
Trash Studio, BTS:
Trash Studio also made a behind-the-scenes video for their YouTube channel and portfolio.
